826081-XIM-C-02148 Johnson Controls Unitary Products2. Condenser coils must have an unlimited supply of air.Where a choice of location is possible, position the unit oneither north or east side of building.3. Suitable for mounting on roof curb.4. For ground level installation, use a level concrete slab witha minimum thickness of 101mm (4”). The length and widthshould be at least 152mm (6”) greater than the unit baserails. Do not tie slab to the building foundation.5. Roof structures must be able to support the weight of theunit and its options/accessories. Unit must be installed on asolid, level roof curb or appropriate angle iron frame.6. Maintain level tolerance to 13 mm (1/2”) maximumacross the entire length or width of the unit.If a unit is to be installed on a roof curb or special frame otherthan a YORK roof curb, gasketing must be applied to allsurfaces that come in contact with the unit underside.Rigging And HandlingExercise care when moving the unit. Do not remove anypackaging until the unit is near the place of installation. Rig theunit by attaching chain or cable slings to the lifting holesprovided in the base rails. Spreader bars, whose lengthexceeds the largest dimension across the unit, MUST be usedacross the top of the unit.Units may be moved or lifted with a forklift. Slotted openings inthe base rails are provided for this purpose.Remove the nesting brackets from the four corners on the topof the unit. All screws that are removed when removing thebrackets must be replaced on the unit.Refer to Tables 5 and 6 for unit weights and to the Figure 9 forapproximate center of gravity.ClearancesAll units require particular clearances for proper operation andservice. Installer must make provisions for adequatecombustion and ventilation air in accordance with section 5.3 ofAir for Combustion and Ventilation of the National Fuel GasCode, ANSI Z223.1 – Latest Edition (in U.S.A.), or Sections 7.2,7.3, or 7.4 of Gas Installation Codes, CSA-B149.1 (in Canada) -Latest Edition, and/or applicable provisions of the local buildingcodes. Refer to Table 13 for clearances required forcombustible construction, servicing, and proper unit operation.LENGTH OF FORKS MUST BE A MINIMUM OF 1067MM(42”).Excessive exposure of this furnace to contaminatedcombustion air may result in equipment damage orpersonal injury. Typical contaminates include:permanent wave solution, chlorinated waxes andcleaners, chlorine based swimming pool chemicals, water softening chemicals, carbon tetrachloride,Halogen type refrigerants, cleaning solvents (e.g.perchloroethylene), printing inks, paint removers, varnishes, hydrochloric acid, cements and glues, antistatic fabric softeners for clothes dryers, masonryacid washing materials. Before lifting a unit, make sure that all panels are inplace and that its weight is distributed equally on allcables so it will lift evenly. An adhesive backed label is provided over the outside ofthe combustion air inlet opening to prevent moisturefrom entering the unit, which could cause damage toelectrical components. Allow this closure label to remainin place until the combustion air hood is to be installed(refer to Vent and Combustion Hood Figure 6).If a unit is to be installed on a roof curb other than aYork ® roof curb, gasketing must be applied to allsurfaces that come in contact with the unit underside. Before lifting, make sure the unit weight is distributedequally on the rigging cables so it will lift evenly.Do not permit overhanging structures or shrubs toobstruct condenser air discharge outlet, combustion airinlet or vent outlets. All panels must be secured in place when the unit islifted. The condenser coils should be protected from riggingcable damage with plywood or other suitable material.
