Frozen food storageYour freezer has the following storage ca¬pacity:Net storage volume: 95 litres. When the freezer is being turned on for thefirst time, or after a prolonged period ofdisuse, set it to the previously-mentionedQuick-freezing status and then wait at leasttwo hours before introducing the food to beconserved. You may then reset the freezerfor normal storage use. This two-hour waiting period may be avoid¬ed if the freezer has already been in opera¬tion.Helpful HintsAlways check the preparation date indica¬ted on the frozen foods you buy and notethe expiry date provided by the producer.Do not open the freezer door too often andleave it open only for the minimum timenecessary. Unnecessary increases in temper¬ature will notably reduce the duration offrozen food conservation.Make sure that all frozen food packages areintact; otherwise, the food may have spoiled. If such packages present signs of swellingor humidity marks, this means that the foodhas not been conserved correctly, implyingthat the product has lost some of its origi¬nal quality. When buying frozen foods, carry a thermallyinsulated shopping bag whenever possible. In any case, always purchase your frozenfoods at the end of your shopping. Wrap thefrozen foods in news-paper and then put theminto the freezer as soon as you arrive home.Always check the frozen foods you buycarefully at the moment of purchase, becauseeven partially-thawed foods must not be re¬frozen but must be consumed within 24hours of purchase.Thawing-out Frozen FoodsFrozen foods must be allowed to thaw outbefore use either in the refrigerator (meat, poultry, fish, etc.) or at room temperature(all other foods) according to the availabletime.Frozen products which come in small-sizedor separate packages maybe cooked direct¬ly without thawing; obviously, in this casethe cooking times will last a little longer.9
