This allows you to cook on a singlelevel and is particularly suitable for dishes which requireextra base browning such as pizzas, quiches and flans.Gratins, lasagnes and hotpots which require extra topbrowning also cook well in the conventional oven. Thisform of cooking gives you the opportunity to cook withoutthe fan in operation.How to Use theConventional Oven1. Turn the oven function control knob to the requiredcooking function ( ).2. If necessary, turn the Time/Temperature control knobto or to adjust the temperature.Top oven element onlyThis function is suitable for finishing cooked dishes, e.g.lasagne, shepherds pie, cauliflower cheese etc.The middle shelf position allows for the best heatdistribution. To increase base browning simply lower theshelf position. To increase top browning, raise the shelfposition.The material and finish of the baking trays and dishesused will affect base browning. Enamelware, dark, heavyor non-stick utensils increase base browning, while ovenglassware, shiny aluminium or polished steel trays reflectthe heat away and give less base browning.Always place dishes centrally on the shelf to ensure evenbrowning.Stand dishes on suitably sized baking trays to preventspillage onto the base of the oven and make cleaningeasier.Do not place dishes, tins or baking trays directly on theoven base as it becomes very hot and damage will occur.For faster preheating use the fan oven function to preheatthe oven until the oven indicator neon goes out, thenswich the selector to the conventional oven setting.Single level cooking gives best results.
