23Important Safety RequirementsThis cooker must be installed in accordance with theIEE Wiring Regulations (Current Edition).Detailed recommendations are contained in thefollowing British Standards Codes Of Practice: B.S.6172/ B.S. 5440, Par. 2 and B.S. 6891 CurrentEditions.Provision for VentilationThe room containing the cooker should have an airsupply in accordance with B.S. 5440: Part 2: CurrentEditions.The following requirements for ventilation must bemet.The cooker should not be installed in a bed sittingroom with a volume of less than 20m 3 , if it isinstalled in a room of volume less 5m 3 an air vent ofeffective area of 110cm 2 is required; if it is installedin a room of volume between 5m 3 and 10m 3, an airvent of effective area 50cm 2 is required, while if thevolume exceeds 11m 3 no air vent is required.However, if the room has a door which opensdirectly to the outside, no air vent is required evenwhen the volume is between 5m 3 and 11m 3.If there are other fuel burning appliances in the sameroom, B.S. 5440: Part. 2: Current Editions should beconsulted to determine the requisite air ventrequirements.
