54ThawingDeep-frozen or frozen food, prior to being used, canbe thawed in the refrigerator compartment or atroom temperature, depending on the time availablefor this operation.Small pieces may even be cooked still frozen,directly from the freezer: in this case, cooking willtake longer.Ice-cube productionThis appliance is equipped with one or more traysfor the production of ice-cubes. Fill these trays withwater, then put them in the freezer compartment.Do not use metallic instruments to remove thetrays from the freezer.Storage of frozen foodWhen the freezer is being turned on for the first time,or after a prolonged period of disuse, turn the N/Sknob to the Quick-freezing position and then wait atleast two hours before introducing the food to beconserved. You may then return the knob to the «N»position. This two-hour waiting period may beavoided if the freezer has already been in operation.To obtain the best performance from this appliance,you should:if large quantities of food are to be stored, remove alldrawers and baskets from appliance and place foodon cooling shelves.Pay careful attention not to exceed load limitstated on the side of the upper section (whereapplicable).ImportantIn the event of accidental defrosting, for exampledue to a power failure, if the power has been offfor longer that the value shown in the technicalcharacteristics chart under “rising time”, thedefrosted food must be consumed quickly orcooked immediately and then refrozen (aftercooling).
