Care and cleaningBefore cleaning always allow the applianceto cool down before switching off at theelectricity supply.Cleaning materials• Before using any cleaning materials on yourappliance, check that they are suitable andthat their use is recommended by themanufacturer.• Cleaners that contain bleach should not beused as they may dull the surface finishes.Harsh abrasives and scourers should also beavoided. Multi-surface anti-bacterial cleaningproducts should not be used on the ceramichob or on the surrounding trims.Cleaning the outside of theappliance• Do not use abrasive cleaning materials e.g.abrasive cream cleaners, wire wool pads orscourers on painted or printed finishes asdamage may occur. Regularly wipe over thecontrol panel, control knobs, handles, doorsand appliance sides using a soft cloth and hotsoapy water. To prevent streaking, finish witha soft cloth.• Stainless Steel cream cleaners are abrasiveand should be avoided as they may dull thesurface finish. Any spillage on thestainless steel finish must be wiped offimmediately.Do not attempt to remove any of the controlknobs from the appliance as this may causedamage and is a safety hazard.Cleaning the ceramic hob• Make sure the ceramic glass is cool beforecleaning. It is important to clean the ceramichob daily to prevent foodstuff being burnt on.• Take care to avoid the hob trims whencleaning the ceramic glass as they may bedamaged by the cleaning agents.Daily cleaning• Use a hob-cleaning product specificallydesigned for ceramic hobs daily. If foodstuffis not allowed to burn on it will be mucheasier to clean off.• Apply a small amount of hob cleaner in thecentre of each area to be cleaned.• Dampen a clean paper towel or a plastic paddesigned for non-stick saucepans and rubvigorously until all marks are removed. Thismay take a few minutes.• Wipe off residues of cleaner with anotherdamp paper towel and polish dry with a softcloth.• If hob cleaner is unavailable, one or more ofthe cleaning agents below may be usedtemporarily:• Cream Cleaner• Baking SodaTo remove more stubbornmarks• Cream cleaner may be used to clean offmore stubborn stains or to removediscolouration.• It may be necessary to rub the marks hardfor several minutes.• Use a plastic pad designed for non-sticksaucepans with cream cleaner for removal ofmore stubborn stains.22 |
