10Suitable Kitchenware forInduction Cooking ZonesPots and Pans• In principle all pots and pans with magnetic basesare suitable. These are steel, steel-enamel as wellas cast-iron pots and pans.• High grade steel pans with a mixed metal base(sandwich base, e.g. Tefal with an aluminium/cop-per base) are suitable for induction only if the man-ufacturer has expressly marked them as such. Inthat case they have a ferromagnetic percentage inthe base.• If you wish to use a special type of pan (e.g. a pres-sure cooker, simmering pan, wok, etc.), please ob-serve the manufacturer's instructions.• Aluminium, copper, brass, stainless steel pots andpans (unless specifically designated as suitable forinduction), glass, ceramic or porcelain are not suit-able for induction cooking zones. The cookingzone reacts as if it were being used without a potor pan: Error code f.Look for the label: Suitable for induction!Suitability TestIf you are not sure if a pot or pan is suitable for cook-ing or frying on the induction cooking zone you cancheck this as follows:• Place a pot filled with a little water (3-5 mm fillingheight) on the cooking zone.Switch the cooking zone to full power (switch set-ting 9).Caution: The pan base of suitable kitchenwareheats up within a few seconds!• You can also check this with a magnet. If it remainsfixed to the base the pan is suitable for inductioncooking zones.Pan SizeUp to a certain limit the induction cooking zoneadapts itself to the size of the pan base diameter.However, the pan base diameter must be of a mini-mum size, depending on the size of the cookingzone.Diameter of the cooking zone 14,5 cm:Diameter of the pan base at least 12 cmDiameter of the cooking zone 18 cm:Diameter of the pan base at least 14,5 cmDiameter of the cooking zone 21 cm:Diameter of the pan base at least 18 cmNote:Please note the diameter of the pan base whenbuying new pans, since the manufacturers usuallyspecify the top edge diameter of their pans.Automatic Pan SensingThe induction cooking zone does not function whenunsuitable pans are used.If the cooking zone is switched on without a suit-able pan on it f flashes in the digital display ofthe cooking zone.After about 10 minutes the cooking zone switches it-self off automatically. _ appears in the digital dis-play.Also when overheating occurs (e.g. heating up a panthat is empty) or with faults in the electronics the dis-play _ is lit. The cooking zone switches itself off au-tomatically.To be able to use it again the cooking zone musthave been first switched off and then reset to the re-quired heat setting.
