15 Zanussi 8181497-01/0FreezingYou need not press the fast-freezing button whenfreezing smaller quantities of food during any24-hour period.In all other cases, press the fast-freezing buttonapprox. 24 hours prior to placing the food in thefreezer.Press the fast-freezing button to switch offfast-freezing again about 24 hours after placing thefood in the freezer.The yellow fast-freezing lamp remains lit as long asthe fast-freezing button is engaged.Practical advice on freezing· When freezing products, use the top shelf, and ifnecessary the shelf beneth that.· Place the foods directly on the freezer shelves.· Spread out the products as much as possible toallow air to circulate between them.· Do not place food products which are to befrozen directly against other frozen food.· The heat from the unfrozen food may causethe frozen food to thaw on the surface.· Once frozen, re-arrange the products and putthem as close as possible to each other.· The food will then stay cold longer in theevent of a power failure.· When freezing large amounts of food/provisions,the accumulator moves to the tray/space nearestto the lower freezing shelf.· Do not freeze too much food at the same time.· The freezing capacity of the unit is indicated inthe specifications section.Check that the cabinet is operating andkeeps the set temperature one day afterswitching it on for the first time. Onlyafter then should the freezer be used tofreeze fresh foodstuff.Suitable storage periodsFood purchased in frozen condition: Follow theadvice on the maximum storage period indicated onthe packaging.Food frozen at home:Fatty and salty food should not be kept frozen formore than three months. Cooked food and low-fatfood may be kept up to about six months. Lean foodand berries can be kept for approximately one year.ThawingIt is best to use the fridge to thaw food. Place thefoodstuff on a plate with a raised edge to preventliquids from running out. To quickly thaw food, putit in room temperature or in cold water. When usinga microwave oven to thaw foodstuff, follow themanufacturer's instructions.Cabinet interiorFreezer drawersThe freezer drawers make it easy to quickly andeasily find the food package you want. To gainspace, the drawers can be removed and the productscan be put directly on the shelves. On all shelves,except the top shelf, it is possible to place productsthat protrude 20 mm from the front edge. Thisallows maximum use of the available space.Do not remove the bottom drawer. It is required toassure proper air circulation.
