4-18 3COM Security Switch 6200 Hardware and Software Users GuideConfiguring the Security Switch 6200 SystemConfiguringAlarmMonitorsAlarm Monitors can be created to send SNMP traps if the value of a MIBvariable crosses a specified threshold. When the alarm condition occurs thevalue of the monitored MIB object along with any additional specified objectsare sent as a trap to all of the configured SNMP trap destinations.To configure Alarm Monitors:1. Select Option 6 from the main menu.Alarm Monitors==============Modify the Alarm Monitors Delete, Modify,eXit>[eXit]:Where:Name - User specified name for the monitor.Frequency - Polling interval in seconds.OID - The MIB Object of integral type to monitor. The object should bespecified using the last part of its' name less the instance ID. (e.g."ifInOctets").OP - Relation operator for comparision.Can be 'gt', 'ge', 'eq', 'ne', 'lt' or'le'.Additional OIDs - These are additional MIB Object values to be sentalong with the trap. They can be any MIB object that is either amember of the same conceptual table row as the monitored OID, orpart of a table that shares a common index scheme using theAUGMENTS clause.2. Enter the desired option to add, modify, or delete an alarm monitor orenter X to return to the main menu.Modify the Alarm Monitors Delete, Modify,eXit>[eXit]: aMonitor Name []:Frequency (seconds) [600]:Object []:Relational Operator [ne]:Value [0]:Additional Objects []:Modify the Alarm Monitors Delete, Modify,eXit>[eXit]:3.
