Electrical installation553ADW000194R0201 DCS800 Hardware Manual e bPulse encoder connectionConnecting a pulse encoder to the DCS800 converterThe connection diagram for a pulse encoder to the electronics of a DCS converter isquite similar, if the SDCS-CON-4 or the SDCS-IOB-3 is used. The basic differencebetween these 2 boards is the galvanically isolated circuit and pulse receivers viaopto coupler on the SDCS-IOB-3 board.Power supply for incremental encoderSDCS-CON-4 and SDCS-IOB-3 board have jumpers to select a supply voltage. V17LED on SDCS-IOB-3 indicates supply is OK.Sense feedback connection is recommended when power supply level fordifferential pulse encoder is 5 V. The wiring is shown on figure below.Commissioning hintNote:If the drive’s direction of rotation iscorrect (if necessary, correct byexchanging the field connections), theTacho error message may appearduring start-up.If with a positive reference theTACHO_PULSES signal does notlook like the illustration below, thentracks A & must be mutuallyexchanged with encoders withinverted signals, and tracks A and Bwith encoders without invertedsignals. If the TACHO_PULSES signal ismissing or non-linear, the encoder’spulses are not being read correctly.Possible reasons for this may be theencoder supply, the encoder itself, orthe wiring.Hardware configurationEncoder supply SDCS-CON-4supplied by PIN-4SDCS-CON-4supplied by POW-1/POW-4SDCS-IOB-35 V sense controlled sense controlled sense controlled12 V - no sense sense controlled24 V no sense no sense no senseAABBZZ+U0VX5:2X5:1X5:4X5:3X5:6X5:5IOB-3X5:7X5:10X5:8X5:9X5:2X5:1X5:4X5:3X5:6X5:5CON-4X5:10X5:7X5:9X5:8GNDChA+ChA-ChB+ChB-ChZ+ChZ-AABBZZ+U0VX5:2X5:1X5:4X5:3X5:6X5:5IOB-3X5:7X5:10X5:8X5:9X5:2X5:1X5:4X5:3X5:6X5:5CON-4X5:10X5:7X5:9X5:8GNDChA+ChA-ChB+ChB-ChZ+ChZ-IOB3x3_f.dsfDIFFERENTIALPower sourceSense powerSense GNDPower source= twistedpairSINGLE-ENDED065535Forward
