Drive configuration29Drive configurationWhat this chapter containsThis chapter gives information on configuring the drive foroperation with the RECA-01 EtherCAT® Adapter module.RECA-01 configurationAfter the RECA-01 EtherCAT® Adapter module has beenmechanically and electrically installed according to the instructionsin chapters Mechanical installation and Electrical installation, thedrive must be prepared for communication with the module.ABB drives can receive control information from multiple sourcesincluding digital inputs, analogue inputs, the drive control paneland a communication module (e.g. RETA-01). ABB drives allowthe user to separately determine the source for each type ofcontrol information (Start, Stop, Direction, Reference, Fault Reset,etc.). In order to give the fieldbus master station the mostcomplete control over the drive, the communication module mustbe selected as source for this information. The detailed procedureof activating the drive for communication with the module isdependent on the drive type. Normally, a parameter must beadjusted to activate the communication. Please refer to the drivedocumentation. As communication between the drive and the RECA-01 isestablished, several configuration parameters are copied to thedrive. These parameters must be checked first and adjusted ifnecessary (see table The RECA-01 configuration parameters onpage 30). The alternative selections for these parameters arediscussed in more detail below.Note: The new settings take effect only when the module ispowered up the next time or when the module receives a ‘FieldbusAdapter parameter refresh’ (Drive parameter 51.27) commandfrom the drive.
