TOOLS REQUIREDThe tools required for the installation of the TRACER 4108/4208 are:• VT100 terminal or PC with terminal emulation software• RS-232 (DB-25 male for TRACER 4108/4208) cable for connecting to terminal3. UNPACK AND INSPECT THE SYSTEMEach TRACER 4108/4208 is shipped in its own cardboard shipping carton. Open each carton carefully andavoid deep penetration into the carton with sharp objects.After unpacking the unit, inspect it for possible shipping damage. If the equipment has been damaged intransit, immediately file a claim with the carrier, then contact ADTRAN Customer Service (see CustomerService, Product Support Information, and Training information in the front of this manual).Contents of ADTRAN ShipmentYour ADTRAN shipment includes the following items:• TRACER 4108/4208 Unit• TRACER 4108/4208 Documentation CD• Eight T1 Crossover (RJ-48 to RJ-48) Cables• Eight T1 Straight Through (RJ-48 to RJ-48) CablesCustomer ProvidesThe following items are necessary for the installation of the TRACER 4108/4208 system and are notprovided by ADTRAN:• 21 to 60 VDC power source (or AC adapter available from ADTRAN P/N 1280650L1), either polarityreferenced to ground• Antenna and mounting hardware• Antenna feedline cable• Lightning arrestors• Weatherproofing kits for antenna installationChanges or modifications not expressly approved by ADTRAN could void the user’sauthority to operate the equipment.To prevent electrical shock, do not install equipment in a wet location or during a lightningstorm.
