The Pre-Calibration Procedures in this sectionverify proper instrument performance to ensure a successful calibration.These steps should be completed just prior to beginning the calibrationprocedure itself. If problems are detected during these checks, DO NOTATTEMPT TO CALIBRATE THE INSTRUMENT. If necessary, CALLTHE CUSTOMER SUPPORT CENTER FOR ASSISTANCE AT 1(800) CELL DYN. After the problems have been resolved, repeat thePre-Calibration Procedures to verify proper performance.The Pre-Calibration Procedures checklist included in this section may beduplicated as needed.Calibration Guidelines1. Verify that the Daily, Weekly and Monthly scheduled maintenance(as directed in Chapter 9, Maintenance, of this manual) is up-to-date before calibrating the instrument. Instrument cleanliness isessential for accurate calibration. Therefore, each laboratory shouldperform any additional maintenance according to its requirements.2. Use only recommended CELL-DYN reagents.3. Verify the precision for the Open and Closed modes prior tocalibration as directed in the Pre-Calibration Procedures Checklistlater in this chapter.4. Select and process all whole blood samples according to therequirements given in the Whole Blood Calibration Guidelinessection of this chapter.5. Be certain that any calibrator vials used are brought to roomtemperature and mixed according to the manufacturer’sinstructions given in the package insert.
