21Acer Advance Server Management (ASMe)Acer Advance Server Management (ASMe) is a system managementpackage that is included on the ASMe CD. ASMe applications interactwith the integrated hardware system management features of theserver to allow you to monitor and manage a server from a remoteworkstation:• Remote connection from a Windows-based client workstation overa LAN, or over a modem or direct serial connection to theemergency management port on the server.• Real-time monitoring and alerting for server hardware sensors.• Emergency management when the server is off (but still connectedto AC power) lets you verify the state of the server, diagnosehardware problems, and power on/off or reset the server.• Run the System Setup Utility to change the server configuration.ASMe can use an optional service partition on the server that you aremanaging. The service partition is a special disk partition on the systemdrive that contains a ROM-DOS operating system and DOS-basedutilities, including the System Setup Utility, FRU/SDR Load Utility, andRemote Diagnostics. The server can be booted to the service partition, either locally or remotely, to provide access to the utilities. For more information on Acer Advance Server Management and theindividual ASMe applications, see the ASMe CD.
