Logical Unit Number (LUN)—The number assigned to asubdevice (logical unit) of a SCSI device, which is usually zerofor a disk drive.Storage Manager Pro displays the disk ID in the System Browserwindow and in the Disk Properties dialog box.Replacing Disk DrivesYou can replace a failed drive in an array. For detailed instructions,see Replacing a Failed Disk Drive in an Array on page 3-1.Caution: You should not remove a disk drive that is used byan array. This may cause you to lose data.Blinking a Disk DriveYou can use the Blink function to blink the activity light of aspecific disk drive to help you visually identify it.To blink a drive:1 In the System Browser window, select the drive you want toblink.2 Click Blink.Storage Manager Pro confirms that it will blink the disk drive forapproximately two minutes. You can stop the blinking byclicking Unblink at any time.Clearing Metadata from a Disk DriveAll of the member disk drives in an array contain metadata in thefirst sectors of the disk drive. The controller uses the metadata toidentify array members after restarting or changing controllers.You can clear the metadata from a disk drive if you have a drivethat was previously a member of an array. Disk drives in this statedisplay a message telling you to clear the metadata. After you clearthe metadata, you can use the disk drive in an array or as a spare.!
