8USBConnect 2000 User’s GuideTerminating the SCSI BusTo ensure reliable communication on the SCSI bus, terminators mustbe installed (or enabled) on the devices at the physical ends of theSCSI bus. The terminators on all devices between the physical endsmust be removed (or disabled). Termination on the USBConnect2000 adapter is permanently enabled, since it is always at one end ofthe SCSI bus.There are various methods for terminating hard disk drives andother SCSI devices. Read the device documentation if you are notsure how to do this. Here are some general guidelines for termina-tion:n Termination is usually controlled by installing or removing aSCSI terminator. On some SCSI devices, termination is con-trolled by setting a switch on the back of the device.n Most SCSI devices come from the factory with terminationenabled.Obtaining SCSI CablesYou will need additional SCSI cables if you connect more than oneSCSI device to your USBConnect 2000 adapter.
