A protocol within the TCP/IP suite ofnetwork protocols that allows a host to find the physical address of anode on the same network. ARP cannot be used across routers.Auto-IP A method to automatically set an IP address in the absence of a DHCPserver.Bonjour Bonjour enables automatic discovery of computers, devices, and serviceson IP networks without the need to enter IP addresses or configure DNSservers.config File This is a file that resides in the print server’s memory and contains all theparameters that determine the print server’s functionality. By editing theconfig file (changing the parameter settings), you can configure the printserver to meet the printing needs of your network.DHCP Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. DHCP enables a host (e.g. printserver) to automatically obtain an unused IP address. It also providesvalidation data that defines for how long the IP addresses will remainvalid.To fully benefit from this method, the print servers described in thismanual also support the DDNS, which is available in Windows 2000networks.DNS Domain Name System. Resolves host names into IP addresses.Dynamic DNS Dynamic Domain Name System. Allows hosts to dynamically change IPaddresses in in DNS, e.g. when the host is given a new IP address byDHCP.Firmware Firmware is the print server’s internal software.Factory Default A Factory Default is performed by pressing the test button on the printserver in specific sequences. A Factory Default will restore all settings totheir default values.Flash Memory The print server firmware is stored in Flash memory .
