OverviewEZ-SCREEN LPInstruction Manual Checkout Procedures6. Checkout ProceduresTo prepare the System for this checkout:1. Examine the guarded machine to verify that it is of a type anddesign compatible with the EZ-SCREEN LP. See Section 1.2for a list of misapplications.2. Verify that the EZ-SCREEN LP is configured for the intendedapplication (see Section 4.2).3. Verify that the minimum safety distance from the closestdanger point of the guarded machine to the defined area isnot less than the calculated distance, per Section 3.1.1 of thismanual.4. Verify that:• Access to any dangerous parts of the guarded machineis not possible from any direction not protected bythe EZ-SCREEN LP, hard guarding, or supplementalsafeguarding, and• It is not possible for a person to stand between the definedarea and the dangerous parts of the machine, or• Supplemental safeguarding and hard guarding, as describedby the appropriate safety standards, are in place andfunctioning properly in any space (between the defined areaand any hazard) which is large enough to allow a personto stand undetected by the EZ-SCREEN LP (see Sections3.1.2 and 3.1.4).5. Verify that all reset switches are mounted outside and in fullview of the guarded area, out of reach of anyone inside theguarded area, and that means of preventing inadvertent use isin place (see Section 3.1.3).6. Examine the electrical wiring connections between theEZ-SCREEN LP’s FSD outputs and the guarded machine’scontrol elements to verify that the wiring meets therequirements stated in Section 3.5.7. Inspect the area near the defined area (including work piecesand the guarded machine) for reflective surfaces (see Section3.1.6). Remove the reflective surfaces if possible by relocatingthem, painting, masking or roughening them. Remainingproblem reflections will become apparent during the trip testin step 11.8. Apply power to the EZ-SCREEN LP. Verify that power to theguarded machine is OFF. Remove all obstructions from thedefined area. If the EZ-SCREEN LP is configured for latchoutput, the Yellow Status indicator will double-flash; perform amanual reset (close the reset switch for 1/4 to 2 seconds, thenopen it).Study each procedure in its entirety, to understand each stepthoroughly before beginning. Refer all questions to a Bannerapplications engineer at the address or numbers listed on thecover of this manual. Checkouts must be performed as detailedin Section 6.1 below and results should be recorded and keptin the appropriate place (e.g., near the machine, and/or in atechnical file).6.1 Schedule of CheckoutsTrip Test: The procedure for the EZ-SCREEN LP trip test isdescribed in Section 3.4.4. This procedure must be performedat installation, and at any time the EZ-SCREEN LP, the guardedmachine, or any part of the application is installed or altered. The procedure must be performed by a Qualified Person.Commissioning Checkout: The procedure described in Section6.2 must be performed at installation or whenever changesare made to the System (either a new configuration of theEZ-SCREEN LP or changes to the machine). The proceduremust be performed by a Qualified Person.Shift/Daily Checkout: The procedure for “daily” checkout of theEZ-SCREEN LP is described on the supplied Daily Checkoutcard (Banner p/n 140045 for SLP.. stand-alone models, P/N140046 for SLPC.. cascadeable models). Daily Checkout is tobe performed at each shift change or machine setup change, whenever the System is powered up — at least daily. Theprocedure is listed on the Daily Checkout card and may beperformed by a Designated Person or a Qualified Person.Semi-Annual Checkout: The procedure for initial checkoutof the EZ-SCREEN LP System is to be performed every sixmonths, following installation. The procedure is listed on theSemi-Annual Checkout card (Banner P/N 140047) and must beperformed by a Qualified Person.6.2 Commissioning CheckoutPerform this checkout procedure as part of the EZ-SCREENLP installation (after it has been interfaced to the guardedmachine as described in Section 3.5), or whenever changesare made to the System (either a new configuration of theEZ-SCREEN LP or changes to the machine). A QualifiedPerson (as defined in Section 4.1) must perform the procedure;checkout results should be recorded and kept on or near theguarded machine as required by applicable standards.Buy: www.ValinOnline.com | Phone 844-385-3099 | Email: CustomerService@valin.com
