Chapter 8: IPX Routing Configuration GuideSSR User Reference Manual8 - 5Enable SAPIPX SAP is enabled by default on the SSR. You must first create an IPX interface orassign an IPX interface to a VLAN before SAP will start learning services.Configure Static RoutesIn a Novell NetWare network, the SSR uses RIP to determine the best paths for routingIPX. However, you can add static RIP routes to RIP routing table to explicitly specifya route. To add a static RIP route, enter the following command in Configure mode:Configure Static SAP Table EntriesServers in an IPX network use SAP to advertise services via broadcast packets.Services from servers are stored in the Server Information Table. If you want to havea service explicitly advertised with different hops then you will need to configure astatic entry. To add an entry into the Server Information Table, enter the following command inConfigure mode:Control Access to IPX NetworksTo control access to IPX networks, you create access control lists and then apply themwith filters to individual interfaces. The SSR supports the following IPX access liststhat you can use to filter various kinds of traffic:• IPX access control list: Restrict traffic based on the source address, destinationaddress, source socket, destination socket, source network mask or destinationnetwork mask.• SAP access control list: Restricts advertisements or learning of SAP services. Theselists are used for SAP filters. They can also be used for Get Nearest Server (GNS)Add a static RIP route. ipx add route Add a SAP table entry. ipx add sap type>
