Refer to Owner Manual for further information. 7ConveniencePUSHBUTTON STARTYour STS features a pushbuttonstart system that does not require atraditional key to start the engine.Starting Your Engine• The Keyless Access Systemtransmitter must be in thevehicle. If no transmitter isdetected, the Driver InformationCenter will display NO FOBSDETECTED. If the transmitter isin the vehicle and the NO FOBSDETECTED message is displayed,place the transmitter in thepocket located in the back ofthe center console, with thebuttons facing the front ofthe vehicle.• With your foot on the brakepedal, press the top of the Startbutton. When the engine beginscranking, release the button. Donot hold the button for longerthan 15 seconds at a time.• If the engine does not start anda Driver Information Centermessage is not displayed, wait15 seconds and try again.Stopping Your Engine• Move the shift lever to Park (P).• Press the bottom of theOff/Accessory button.If the shift lever is not in Park (P),the engine will stop but the vehiclewill go into accessory mode and theDriver Information Center willdisplay SHIFT TO PARK. Once theshift lever is moved to Park (P), thevehicle will turn off.ADAPTIVE REMOTE STARTThis feature allows you to start theengine from outside the vehicle byusing the Keyless Access Systemtransmitter. (Normal transmitterrange is within approximately 200feet of the vehicle.)You can also set the system toactivate the automatic climatecontrol, rear window defogger orseat temperature control (seeVehicle Personalization Settings).The engine will run for about10 minutes before turning itself off,but can be extended 10 minutesmore by performing anotherremote start sequence at any time.Note: There must be a Keyless AccessSystem transmitter in the vehicle before thevehicle will turn off. If a transmitter is notpresent, the vehicle will go into accessorymode. You may choose to turn off thevehicle by pressing the Off/Accessory buttonor go back to run by pressing the Startbutton.
