If air goesout of a tyre, it is much more likelyto leak out slowly. But if there everis a blowout, here are a few tipsabout what to expect and whatto do:If a front tyre fails, the flat tyrecreates a drag that pulls the vehicletoward that side. Take your foot offthe accelerator pedal and grip thesteering wheel firmly. Steer tomaintain lane position, and thengently brake to a stop, well off theroad, if possible.A rear blowout, particularly on acurve, acts much like a skid andmay require the same correction asused in a skid. Stop pressing theaccelerator pedal and steer tostraighten the vehicle. It may bevery bumpy and noisy. Gently braketo a stop, well off the road,if possible.{ WarningDriving on a flat tyre will causepermanent damage to the tyre.Re-inflating a tyre after it hasbeen driven on while severelyunderinflated or flat may cause ablowout and a serious crash.Never attempt to re-inflate a tyrethat has been driven on whileseverely underinflated or flat.Have your dealer or an authorizedtyre service centre repair orreplace the flat tyre as soon aspossible.{ WarningLifting a vehicle and getting underit to do maintenance or repairs isdangerous without theappropriate safety equipment andtraining. If a jack is provided withthe vehicle, it is designed only forchanging a flat tyre. If it is usedfor anything else, you or otherscould be badly injured or killed ifthe vehicle slips off the jack. If ajack is provided with the vehicle, only use it for changing a flat tyre.If a tyre goes flat, avoid further tyreand wheel damage by driving slowlyto a level place, well off the road,if possible.
