It tells you the GrossVehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) and the GrossAxle Weight Rating (GAWR) for the front and rear axles.See “Certification/Tire Label” later in this section.Steps for Determining Correct Load Limit1. Locate the statement “The combined weight ofoccupants and cargo should never exceedXXX kg or XXX pounds” on your vehicle’s placard.2. Determine the combined weight of the driver andpassengers that will be riding in your vehicle.3. Subtract the combined weight of the driver andpassengers from XXX kilograms or XXX pounds.4. The resulting figure equals the available amount ofcargo and luggage load capacity. For example, ifthe “XXX” amount equals 1400 lbs and there will befive 150 lb passengers in your vehicle, the amountof available cargo and luggage load capacity is650 lbs (1400 − 750 (5 x 150) = 650 lbs).5. Determine the combined weight of luggage andcargo being loaded on the vehicle. That weightmay not safely exceed the available cargoand luggage load capacity calculated in Step 4.6. If your vehicle will be towing a trailer, the load fromyour trailer will be transferred to your vehicle.Consult this manual to determine how this reducesthe available cargo and luggage load capacity ofyour vehicle.
