Havethe coolant changed by anauthorized service center, familiarwith legal requirements regardingused coolant disposal. This will helpprotect the environment and yourhealth.Checking CoolantThe vehicle must be on a levelsurface when checking the coolantlevel.The engine coolant surge tank andCAC bottle are in the enginecompartment on the driver side ofthe vehicle. See EngineCompartment Overview onpage 10-5.Check to see if coolant is visible inthe surge tank and CAC bottle.If the coolant inside the surge tankis boiling, do not do anything elseuntil it cools down. If coolant isvisible but the coolant level is not ator above the mark pointed to on thesurge tank or at the CAC bottleCOLD FILL mark, add a 50/50 mixture of clean, drinkable waterand DEX-COOL coolant.Be sure the cooling system is coolbefore this is done.If no coolant is visible in the coolantsurge tank or CAC bottle, addcoolant as follows:How to Add Coolant to theSurge Tank{ WarningYou can be burned if you spillcoolant on hot engine parts.Coolant contains ethylene glycoland it will burn if the engine partsare hot enough.
