417USING TAM MODE (FAX-B840 only)When TAM MODE is set and a call is received, the fax will respond as described below.Setting the recording time for a telephone message• A maximum of 55 messages, including an outgoing message, alternative message, voice memos, Fax/Tel messageand forwarding message, with a total maximum recording time of 10 minutes can be recorded. You can set amaximum recording time of 120 seconds for each telephone message (see below).• If you have any new telephone messages, the TAM LED blinks and the number of messages appears on the LCD.• The day and time when the telephone message was recorded, the number of telephone messages and the number ofthe message being played (ICM No.) are displayed whenever a message is played.1 The fax will ring 2 or 5 times, when TOLL SAVER is set to ON, depending on whether there areany telephone messages (see p. 42).When TOLL SAVER is set to OFF, you can specify the number of times the fax will ring.2 The outgoing message is played to the other party.3 If the other party sends a fax after they leave a message, or if the call is a fax call, the fax isreceived automatically.When the fax is set to MANUAL MODE and MAN/AUTO SWITCH has been set to OFF (see p. 51), TAM MODE willbe activated if the fax rings 15 times and the call is not answered (only when an outgoing message has been recorded).When the call is disconnected, the fax returns to MANUAL MODE.1 Press [Function], then press [Start/Copy].2 Use [ ] or [ ] to select TAM SETTINGS, then press [Start/Copy]twice.3 Use [ ] or [ ] to select the recording time, then press [Start/Copy].4 Press [Stop].Setting ends and the fax returns to standby mode.When the recording time is set to 0, the alternative outgoing message is played. If an alternative outgoing message hasnot been recorded, the outgoing message is played.
