OPERATIONS20020010815CRS]4. Checking the Waste TonerWhen the photosensitive drum rotates, its drive is transmitted through the drumgear, coupling gear, and toner feeding bladedrive gear in order. The toner feeding bladeserves to forward waste toner collected bythe cleaning blade to the inside of the drumunit. The coupling gear transmits drive bykeeping two gears in contact by the work ofa spring.Paper selectWhen the inside of the drum unitbecomes full of waste toner, the load againstrotating the toner feeding blade increases.Further, when torque is imposed on thetoner feeding blade, the coupling gearbecomes disengaged, cutting the drive tothe toner feeding blade, thereby causing theflag to move away from the waste toner sen-sor (PS5). When the flag leaves the wastetoner sensor, the Replace Drum Cartridgeindicator (@2>) on the control panel starts toflash; in the case of a model with the drumunit replacement automatic indication func-tion, the indicator turns on.WastetonerWaste toner(PS5)Toner feeding bladeDC controller PCBPhotosensitive drumCoupling gearFigure 3-3183-34 COPYRIGHT © 1995 CANON INC, CANON NP5OI2/NP6OTZF /NP6212 REV.A SEPT. 1995 PRINTED IN JAPAN (IMPRIMEAUJAPON)
