68 Shooting - Selecting Particular EffectsSelecting an AF FrameThe AF frame indicates the area of the composition on which the camera focuses.You can select one AF frame from among the three available. This is convenient forfocusing accurately on an off-center subject to obtain the composition you desire.1 Press the button.• The selected AF frame will appear in the displaypanel. The three AF frames will also appear inthe LCD monitor if it is on.2 Press the or arrow on the omniselector to chose an AF frame.• The selected frame will appear green.3 Press the button.• You can also press the shutter button directlyinstead of the button to shoot with theselected AF frame.4 Shoot the image.AF Frame• This function can only be selected in the , , and shooting modes. Thecenter AF frame is used for all other shooting modes. The selected setting is notmemorized when the camera power is turned off. Consequently, the center AFframe is selected again the next time the camera is turned on.• Since the AF frame setting remains in effect while the camera is left on even if theLCD monitor is turned off, it is advisable to keep the LCD monitor on whileshooting with this function.• When the Spot AE Point is selected as the light metering method, you can use theselected AF frame as the Spot AE Point (p. 78).• For an explanation of the AF frame colors, please refer to page 36.
