Shooting - Selecting Particular Effects 69Adjusting the Exposure CompensationAdjust the exposure compensation setting to avoid making the subject too darkwhen it is backlit or shot against a bright background.1 Press the button once.• The exposure compensation bar will appear inthe display panel. The bar will also appear inthe LCD monitor if it is on.2 Press the or arrow on the omniselector to select a setting.• The settings can be adjusted in 1/3 steps in therange of -2EV to +2EV.3 Press the button.• You can also take the picture with the setexposure compensation value by pressing theshutter button directly instead of thebutton.• To cancel the exposure compensation, pressthe or arrow on the omni selector toreset it to .4 Shoot the image.• If you pressed the shutter button at Step 3,the exposure compensation bar will reappearafter the shot, allowing you to change thesetting for the next shot.• This setting cannot be adjusted in the and shooting modes. In mode, itcan only be adjusted for the first image.• The selected shooting mode will determine whether or not the exposurecompensation setting is cancelled when the camera is turned off (p. 85).
