81Problem 11 Memory becomes insufficient and scanning stops.Solutions If you configure scanning conditions that use a largeamount of the computer’s memory, scanning may stopbecause of insufficient memory. Although this dependson the computer’s memory size, the possibility ofinsufficient memory increases if any of the followingscanning conditions overlap.• [Color Mode] is set to [24-bit Color]• A large page size (e.g. Legal) is specified as the[Page Size]. Alternatively, the page size is set to[Scanner’s Maximum].• A high resolution (600dpi etc.) is specified for [Dotsper inch].If an error message appears due to insufficient memorywhile scanning is in progress, exit the application,change the scanning conditions (e.g. reduce theresolution or page size) and then try scanning again. Inaddition, the amount of memory used can be containedby turning off [Moire Reduction] and [Prevent BleedThrough/Remove Background] if they are set to on.Problem 12 Double-feeding occurs when scanning a documentwith multiple pages.Solutions Press the scanner's DFR button to continue the scan,or clear the [Detect by Ultrasonic] check box on thescanner driver settings screen. (See p. 31)Problem 13 Passport cannot be scanned as intendedSolutions Depending on the condition of the carrier sheet orpassport, the image may not be scanned completely orthe scanner's image correction may not functionproperly.Configure the settings as shown below.(1) Set [Page Size] to a larger paper size (A4, forexample) on the scanner driver settings screen, andthen scan again. (See p. 56)(2) Set [Dots per inch] to 300 dpi or less on the scannerdriver settings screen. (See p. 57)(3) If you scanned the side of the passport with lesspages facing down, load the side of the passport withmore pages facing down into the feeder.
