Like theconventional machine, DR-7580/9080C, thismachine does not detect presence of staples. Therefore, the documents must be jumping. An example of a specific condition is shownbelow. The stapled position must be only one of 4corners. The document size must be A5 or larger. Set the document based on the center. An oblique perspective figure of the sta-ple detection section is shown below. Thestaple PCB {1 is mounted on the right andleft sides of the pickup inlet and a rectangularlight guide {2 is assembled on the pickuproller cover at the center.Staple PCBLight guideFigure 2-306Four LEDs and 1 light-receiving elementare mounted on the staple PCB. If documents do not jump, light enters theopposite light-receiving element through thecentral light guide. Then, the opposite LEDlights in the same way. This process is re-peated. If the documents jump, the light pathis blocked, so the light cannot be detected. This condition is judged as staple detection, the feeding of documents stops and thepickup tray is lowered to the standby position. An error message is displayed on the opera-tion panel of this machine and the screen ofthe computer. An actual figure during staple detection isshown below.DocumentsFigure 2-308
