6-6Chapter 6 Practical ExamplesIf this does not solve the problem, consider the followingpossible causes:Cause The SCSI card is not compatible with thescanner.Solution Use a recommended SCSI card. (See p. 2-3.)Cause The scanner’s SCSI ID is identical to theSCSI ID of another device.Solution Check the SCSI IDs of all SCSI devicesconnected to the system and set a unique SCSIID for the scanner.Cause The terminator is not set correctly.Solution When another SCSI device is connectedbetween the scanner and the PC, that device’sterminator must be disabled (set to OFF).Cause There is a problem with another SCSIdevice that is connected in the daisychain.Solution Do not use the daisy chain connectionconfiguration.■ Scanning Is Not PerformedIf scanning does not start when it should, first confirm thefollowing:✔ Are the scanner and PC correctly connected with theproper cable?✔ Is the scanner’s power switch turned ON?If this does not solve the problem, consider the followingpossible causes:Cause The ISIS/TWAIN driver and JobRegistration Tool are not installedcorrectly.Solution Uninstall and then reinstall the ISIS/TWAINdriver and Job Registration Tool.IMPORTANT• If the scanner does not operate because of a system error, turn the scanner OFF and wait at least 10 seconds beforeturning it back ON. If errors continue to occur, reboot thescanner and computer.• When scanning with configurations that use a large amount ofthe computer’s memory, scanning will be performed properlyfor the first scan. However, if a second scan is performed withthe same configurations, an error may occur due to insufficientmemory and scanning may not be possible. In such cases, restart the application you are using and change theconfigurations before scanning again.■ Slow Scanning SpeedIf the scanning speed is slow, first confirm the following:Scanning may be slow if the USB interface does notsupport Hi-Speed USB 2.0.✔ Does the PC’s USB interface support only Full-SpeedUSB 1.1?✔ Is the USB cable you are using the one that wassupplied with the scanner (Hi-Speed USB 2.0compliant)?✔ Is a USB 1.1-compliant device connected to the USBhub at the same time?If this does not solve the problem, consider the followingpossible causes:Cause Other applications are running in thebackground on your PC.Solution Quit all other applications that are running.Cause Resident applications, such as anti-virussoftware, are draining memory resources.Solution Quit all resident applications.Cause Temporary files cannot be created in theTEMP folder, as there is not enough freespace on the hard disk.Solution Delete unnecessary files on the hard disk toincrease free space.
