2Vibration isolation provides quietoperation. Compressors have internalhigh-pressure and overcurrentprotection.Convertible duct configurationUnit is designed for easy use in eitherdownflow or horizontal applications.Each unit is easily converted fromhorizontal to downflow and includehorizontal duct covers.Direct-drive multi-speed, PSC(permanent split capacitor) blowermotor is standard on all 50JZ models.Direct-drive, PSC condenser-fanmotors are designed to help reduceenergy consumption and provide forcooling operation down to 40°F outdoortemperature. Motormaster® II lowambient kit is available as a field-installed accessory.Corporate thermostats include theTime Guard® II anti-short cycleprotection circuitry. If a non-Carrierthermostat is used the Time Guard IIfield installed anti-short cycle kit isrecommended.Refrigerant system is designed toprovide dependability. Liquid refrigerantfilter driers are used to promote clean,unrestricted operation. Each unit leavesthe factory with a full Puron® refrigerantcharge. Refrigerant service connectionsmake checking operating pressureseasier.Indoor and Outdoor coils arecomputer-designed for optimum heattransfer and cooling efficiency. Theindoor coil is fabricated from coppertube and aluminum fins and is locatedinside the unit for protection againstdamage. The outdoor coil is internallymounted on the top tier of the unit.Copper fin coils and pre-coated fin coilsare available from the factory by specialorder. These coils are recommended inapplications where aluminum fins arelikely to be damaged due to corrosion.They are ideal for seacoast applications.High and Low Pressure Switches giveadded safety and reliability to thecompressor.Low sound ratings ensure a quietindoor and outdoor environment withsound ratings as low as 72 dB.(See page 3.)Easy to service cabinets provide easysingle-panel accessibility to serviceablecomponents during maintenance andinstallation. The basepan withintegrated drain pan provides easyground level installation with or withouta mounting pad. Convenient handholdsare provided to manipulate the unit onthe jobsite. A nesting feature ensures apositive basepan to roof curb seal whenthe unit is roof mounted. A convenient3/4-in. wide perimeter flange makesframe mounting on a rooftop easy.Louvered Grille provides hail andvandalism protection for the coil.Downflow operation is easily providedin the field to allow vertical ductworkconnections. The basepan utilizesknockout style seals on the bottomopenings to ensure a positive seal in thehorizontal airflow mode.Cabinets are constructed of heavy-duty, phosphated, zinc-coatedprepainted steel capable ofwithstanding 500 hrs of salt spray.Interior surfaces of the evaporator andelectric heater compartments areinsulated with cleanable semi-rigidinsulation board, which keeps theconditioned air from being affected bythe outdoor ambient temperature andprovides improved indoor air quality.(Conforms to American Society ofHeating, Refrigeration and AirConditioning Engineers No. 62P.) Thesloped drain pan minimizes standingwater in the drain, which is providedwith an external drain.Standard metal duct covers withinsulation come with the unit and coverthe horizontal duct openings. These canbe left in place if the units are convertedto downshot.Table of contents PageFeatures/Benefits. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1,2Model Number Nomenclature . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .3ARI Capacities . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .3Physical Data . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .4Options and Accessories . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 5,6Base Unit Dimensions. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 7,8Accessory Dimensions . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .9Selection Procedure . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .10Performance Data . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 11-18Typical Piping and Wiring . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .19Application Data . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .20Electrical Data. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 21,22Typical Wiring Schematics. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 23-25Controls. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .26Guide Specifications . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 27-28 |
