Page 20 of 48 / IM 986-2Water ConnectionsAll piping connections should be made using goodplumbing practices and in accordance with any and alllocal codes that may applyUnit Piping ConnectionUnit sizes 009 through 018 coil connections aregooseneck style, made of copper tubing with 1/2" FPTUnit sizes 021 through 036 have 3/4" FPT connections(Figure 31)Shutoff/Balancing ValveEach heat pump requires a shutoff valve on both thesupply and return risers for easy serviceability andremoval of the chassis when necessaryWe suggest using a factory installed 2-way motorizedisolation valve on the return line of the chassis and aAuto Flow Regulator (AFR) installed on the supply linewhich allows proper water flow in a given size unit.Each valve package has 1/2" FPT or 3/4" FPT threadedconnections (Figure 32)Figure 31: Typical Motorized Valve PipingAdding A Motorized Valve & Auto FlowRegulatorThe Vertical stack water source heat pump chassis canbe configured with a 2-way motorized valve.
