3.7 Available EMC ClassesThe product standard (EMC immunity requirements) IEC/EN 61800-3 + A1 has 5 categories. The VACON® AC drives are divided into 5EMC classes that have equivalents in the standard. All VACON® NX AC drives comply with the standard IEC/EN 61800-3 + A1.The type code tells which category requirement the AC drive complies with (see 3.4 Description of the Type Code). The category changes when these properties in the AC drive change:• the level of electromagnetic disturbances• the requirements of a power system network• the installation environment (see the standard IEC/EN 61800-3 + A1)Table 5: Available EMC ClassesEMC classin IEC/EN61800-3 +A1VACON®equiva-lentEMCclassDescription Available forC1 C The best EMC protection. These AC drives have the nominal voltage of less than 1000V. They are used in the 1st environment.N O T I C EIf the protection rating of the AC drive is IP21 (UL Type 1), only the conductedemissions are in the requirements of category C1.380–500 V, FR4to FR6, IP54 (ULType 12)C2 H Includes AC drives in fixed installations. These AC drives have the nominal voltage ofless than 1000 V. The category C2 AC drives can be used in the 1st and the 2nd envi-ronment.380–500 V, FR4to FR9 and208–240 V, FR4to FR9C3 L Includes AC drives that have the nominal voltage of less than 1000 V. In IT systems, the networks are isolated from ground, or connected toground through high impedance to decrease the leakage current.N O T I C EIf the AC drives are used with other supplies, they do not comply with the EMCrequirements. To change the EMC class of the VACON® NX AC drive from C2 or C3 to C4, see theinstructions in 6.6 Installation in an IT System. All productsProduct OverviewOperating guide | VACON® NXS/NXP Air-cooledDPD00910G22 | Danfoss A/S © 2018.06
