When thesevalues are set they remain the same for all cards processed using the same design. The defaultsare set to standard ISO format and high coercivity. Refer to “MagStripeGeneral” on page 51 forinformation about changing the coercivity.The type of magnetic stripe cards you use must match the type of module installed. Three high‐coercivity cards are included with the system. Use these cards to make sure that the printer isencoding magnetic stripe information properly. Purchase additional magnetic stripe cards tomatch the type of module you are using.Smart Card DesignSmart card processing differs from other types of card personalization. The “smart card” step ofpersonalization is controlled by an application that is separate from the rest of cardpersonalization.Smart card setup usually is provided by a value‐added reseller or service provider. Requestinformation about the smart card module installed and the type of cards to use from your serviceprovider or value‐added reseller.Smart Card Processing RequirementsThe following items are required to personalize smart cards: A smart card reader in the printer A cable for the smart card port used A card production application that is designed to work with the printer and the smart cardapplication Smart cards that work with the reader in the printer
