4414.7 Cleaning the hot water nozzleEach time you prepare milk, clean the connection nozzle (A15)with a sponge to remove milk residues from the gaskets (fig.20).15. DESCALEImportant!• Before use, read the instructions and the labelling on thedescaler pack.• You should use De’Longhi descaler only. Using unsuitabledescaler and/or performing descaling incorrectly mayresult in faults not covered bythe manufacturer's guarantee.Descale the machine when“Descale, ESC to cancel, OKto descale (≃45 minutes)”appears on the display (B1).To descale immediately, press(B3) and follow theinstructions from point 6. Todescale the appliance later,press (B2): the displayshows the symbol to remindyou that the appliance needsdescaling.To access the descaling menu:1. Turn the appliance on and wait until it is ready for use;2. Press (B2) to enter the “Settings” menu;3. Press the selection arrows (B4) or (B5) until“Maintenance” is displayed between the two dotted lines:press ;4. Press the selection arrows or until “Des-caling” is displayed between the two dotted lines: press;5. “Confirm? (≃45 minutes)”: confirm by pressing );6. (If the filter is installed) “Remove filter”: extract the watertank (A18), remove the water softener filter (C4) andempty the water tank. Pressor (B5) ;7. “Pour descaler andwater into tank”: Pour the des-caler into the tank up to levelA (corresponding to a 100mlpack) marked on the innersurface of the tank, then addwater (one litre) up to level B(fig. 34) and put the water tankback. Press ;8. “Empty drip tray”: Remove, empty and replace the driptray (A24) and grounds container (A20). Press ;9. “Place 2L container empty under spouts”: Place an emptycontainer with a minimum capacity of 2 litres under thehot water spout (C6) and coffee spouts (A14) (fig. 35). Press;Important! Danger of burnsHot water containing acid flows out of the coffee spouts andhot water spout. Take care to avoid contact with splashes of thissolution.10. “Descaling underway”: The descale programme starts andthe descaler liquid comes out of the hot water and coffeespouts.A series of rinses and pauses is performed automatically toremove all the scale residues inside the coffee machine;After about 25 minutes, descaling stops;11. “Rinse tank and fill with water”: the appliance is nowready to rinse with fresh water. Empty the container usedto collect the descaler solution. Extract the water tank,empty, rinse under running water, fill with fresh waterup to the MAX level and put back in the appliance: press;12. “Place 2L container empty under spouts”: place the con-tainer used to collect the descaler solution empty underthe coffee spouts and hot water spout (fig. 35) and press;13. “Rinsing Confirm?”: press ;14. “Rinsing underway”: hot water is delivered first from thecoffee spouts, then from the hot water spout;15. When the water in the tank has run out, empty the con-tainer used to collect the rinsing water;16. “Rinse tank and fill with water”: extract the water tank andfill with fresh water up to the MAX level. Press ;17. (If the filter is installed) “Insert filter”: put the water sof-tener filter (if previously removed) back in its housing inthe water tank, and replace the tank in the appliance andpress ;18. “Place 2L container empty under spouts”: place the con-tainer used to collect the descaler solution empty underthe hot water spout. Press ;19. “Rinsing Confirm?”: press ;20. “Rinsing underway”. Hot water comes out of the hot waterspout;21. “Empty drip tray”: At the end of the second rinse, remove,empty and replace the drip tray (A24) and grounds con-tainer (A20).
