Installing System Board Options 7-9Figure 7-8. Terminator Card4. If you are upgrading an existing microprocessor, remove the microprocessor module:a. Carefully stand the system board assembly onone edge. Using a 1/4-inch nut driver, removethe two hexagonal screws securing the micro-processor module to the system board (SeeFigure 7-9).Figure 7-9. Microprocessor ModuleRetention Screwsb. Disconnect the microprocessor temperature-sensor cable from the system board and themicroprocessor module.c. Press inwards on the microprocessor-moduleretention latches (see Figure 7-10) until theysnap into a retracted position.d. Lift the microprocessor module straight up andout of the microprocessor retention bracket onthe system board.Figure 7-10. Installing a MicroprocessorModule5. Install the new microprocessor module.Align the microprocessor module with the micro-processor retention bracket on the system board, asshown in Figure 7-10. Lower the microprocessormodule into the microprocessor retention bracket, and press firmly on the top of the module until themicroprocessor module is fully seated and the reten-tion latches snap into position.terminator-cardretention bracket coverterminatorcardmicroprocessorretention brackettabs (2)primary microprocessor-module retention screws (2)secondary microprocessor-module retention screws (2)microprocessor modulemicroprocessorretention bracketmicroprocessor-moduleretention latches (2)temperaturesensor cable
