Use System Restore as the firstsolution for restoring your operating system and preserving data files. Forinstructions, see "Using Microsoft Windows System Restore" on page 131.• Dell PC Restore by Symantec restores your hard drive to the operatingstate it was in when you purchased the computer. Dell PC Restorepermanently deletes all data on the hard drive and removes anyapplications installed after you received the computer. Use PC Restoreonly if System Restore did not resolve your operating system problem. Forinstructions, see "Using Dell PC Restore by Symantec" on page 131.• If you received Operating System media with your computer, you can use itto restore your operating system. However, using the Operating Systemmedia also deletes all data on the hard drive. Use the media only if SystemRestore did not resolve your operating system problem.
