(the default),5 MIN., 10 MIN.,15 MIN., and 30 MIN.To increase battery operating time, set this option to alower number of minutes.If the time delay you set for suspend mode is greater thanthe delay set for standby mode or suspend to disk mode,the computer enters suspend mode first. For instance, ifSUSPEND TIME-OUT is set for 10 minutes and SUSPEND-TO-DISK TIME-OUT is set for 5 minutes, the computerenters suspend mode after 10 minutes of no I/O activityand then enters suspend-to-disk mode 5 minutes later.NOTE: Set this option to DISABLED if it causes compati-bility problems with your software.If you are not in the Setup program, you can activate sus-pend mode at any time by pressing < FN >< ESC>. (the default),3 MIN., 5 MIN., 10 MIN., 15 MIN., 20 MIN., and DISABLED.Use this feature when the computer is engaged in anactivity, such as calculations, that rarely accesses thehard-disk drive.NOTE: To lengthen the life of the hard-disk drive, Dellrecommends setting this option to the lowest possible set-ting that works for you.DIM Mode Time-OutDIM MODE TIME-OUT lets you determine how long thecomputer remains idle (no I/O activity) before the displaybegins dimming slowly to conserve battery power. Set-tings for this option are DISABLED, 15 SEC., 30 SEC. (thedefault), and 60 SEC. The display begins to brightenagain when you press any key on the built-in keyboard.Use this option to conserve battery power when you areworking with the computer intermittently or when thecomputer is performing a task that does not require yourinput.NOTE: To save battery power, Dell recommends that youalways set this option to the lowest setting that affordscomfortable viewing when the computer is being poweredby a battery. You can conserve up to 5 percent of batterypower by using the minimum brightness.
