Otherwise, your card could overheat and damageyour computer.If a card fan is not present in your computer and you are installing a graphicscard that runs at 75 W or higher, Contact Dell to purchase a card fan.• If you are installing or replacing a card, follow the procedures in the nextsection.• If you are removing but not replacing a card, see "Removing a PCI or PCIExpress x16 Card" on page 224.• If you are replacing a card, remove the current driver for the card from theoperating system.Installing PCI and PCI Express x16 Cards1 Follow the procedures in "Before You Begin" on page 143.2 Remove the computer cover (see "Removing the Computer Cover" onpage 209).3 Rotate the release tab on the card retention latch until it snaps open.4 If you are installing a new card, remove the filler bracket to create a card-slot opening.5 If you are replacing a card that is already installed in the computer, removethe card. If necessary, disconnect any cables connected to the card.6 Prepare the card for installation.
