124 Troubleshooting• If the power light is blinking amber, the computer is receiving electricalpower, but an internal power problem may exist.– Ensure the voltage selection switch is set to match the AC power atyour location, if applicable.– Ensure the processor power cable is securely connected to the systemboard (see "System Board Components" on page 13).• If the power light is steady amber, a device may be malfunctioning orincorrectly installed.– Remove and reinstall the memory modules (see "Replacing or Addinga Memory Module" on page 90).– Remove and reinstall any cards (see "Cards" on page 29).• Eliminate interference. Some possible causes of interference are:– Power, keyboard, and mouse extension cables– Too many devices on a power strip– Multiple power strips connected to the same electrical outletBeep CodesYour computer might emit a series of beeps during start-up if the monitorcannot display errors or problems. This series of beeps, called a beep code,identifies a problem. For example, beep code 1-3-1 (one possible beep code)consists of one beep, a burst of three beeps, and then one beep. This beepcode tells you that the computer encountered a memory problem.Reseating the memory modules may correct the following beep code errors.
