Table 13: Rack Requirements for the Services GatewaySpecificationsRack RequirementsA 19 in. (48.3 cm) rack as defined in Cabinets, Racks, Panels, andAssociated Equipment (document number EIA-310-D) published by theElectronics Industry Association (http://www.eia.org).Rack Size• The outer edges of the mounting brackets extend the width of eitherchassis to 19 in. (48.3 cm).• The front of the chassis extends approximately 0.5 in. (1.27 cm) beyondthe mounting ears.• Maximum permissible ambient temperature when two devices areplaced side by side in a 19 in. rack is 40°C.Rack Requirements• The holes within each rack set are spaced at 1 U [1.75 in. (4.5 cm)].The device can be mounted in any rack that provides holes or holepatterns spaced at 1-U [1.75 in. (4.5 cm)] increments.• The mounting brackets and front-mount flanges used to attach thechassis to a rack are designed to fasten to holes spaced at rackdistances of 1 U (1.75 in.).• The mounting holes in the mounting brackets provided with the deviceare spaced 1.25 in. (3.2 cm) apart (top and bottom mounting hole).Spacing of MountingBracket and FlangeHolesAlways secure the rack in which you are installing the services gatewayto the structure of the building. If your geographical area is subject toearthquakes, bolt the rack to the floor. For maximum stability, also securethe rack to ceiling brackets.Connecting to theBuilding StructureRelatedDocumentationGeneral Site Guidelines for Installing the J-SRX100 Services Gateway on page 22•• Site Preparation Checklist for the J-SRX100 Services Gateway on page 19• J-SRX100 Services Gateway Cabinet Requirements on page 22• Clearance Requirements for Airflow and Hardware Maintenance of the J-SRX100Services Gateway on page 24Clearance Requirements for Airflow and Hardware Maintenance of the J-SRX100Services GatewayWhen planning the installation site for the J-SRX100 Services Gateway, you need to allowsufficient clearance around the device. When planning the installation site for the services gateway, consider the following:• For the operating temperature of the services gateway to be optimal, the airflow aroundthe chassis must be unrestricted.• For service personnel to remove and install hardware components, there must beadequate space at the front and back of the device. Allow at least 24 in. (61 cm) bothin front of and behind the device.24PowerConnect J-SRX100 Services Gateway Hardware Guide
