Monitoring PowerVault NX3500 81Usage ConsiderationsMigrating Clients to Another ControllerIf there is an imbalance in the network load, the system can rebalance theload by migrating clients between controllers, either automatically ormanually. Choose whether the clients or routers in the list may be migrated toother controllers.Select the connections you want to migrate from the list and click AssignInterface. The Assign Interface page displays, and lists the selectedconnections for approval.Choose the controller you want to migrate the selected clients to. You caneither choose a specific controller as the target or choose Assigned Controller.• To migrate all the selected clients to a specific controller, choose a specificcontroller from the list.• To migrate all the selected clients back to their original controllers after afailed controller is revived, choose the Assigned Controller. Each client canhave a different assigned controller. You can either let the system select the target interface on the controller, orchoose a specific one.NOTE: This operation will disconnect CIFS connections if they are migrated to adifferent controller.• To enable automatic rebalance, select Allow these clients to migrate toother controllers when rebalancing the network load.• To keep the selected clients assigned controller permanent (except duringfail-over) clear Allow these clients to migrate to other controllers whenrebalancing the network load.Setting the Migration PolicyIn case of a controller failure, the system automatically migrates eachconnection from the failed controller to another controller to allow clients tocontinue their work. This causes disconnections to CIFS clients. When thefailed controller revives, the system can rebalance the load by migratingclients back to the revived controller automatically. This operation is calledfail-back.
