31 ENGLISH7.1 CH INPUTThe DN-A7100 is equipped for future expansionthrough the use of Multi channel Super Audio CDmultichannel player or DVD-Audio player.When this is selected, the input signals connected tothe L(front left), R (front right), CENTER, SL (surroundleft), SR (surround right) and SBL (surround back left)and SBR (surround back right) channels of the 7.1CH. In jacks are output directly to the front (left andright), center, surround (left and right) and surroundback the pre-out jacks without passing through thesurround circuitry.When 7.1 CH. INPUT is selected, the last video inputused remains routed to the Monitor Outputs.This permits simultaneous viewing with videosources.2.3.4.1.4.1.Recording the video from one source andthe audio from anotherYou can add the sound from one source to thevideo of another source to make your own videorecordings.Below is an example of recording the sound froma compact disc player connected to CD IN and thevideo from a video camera connected to DSS/VCR2to video cassette recorder connected to the VCROUT jack.1.2.1. Switch the video output source to VCR1 bysimply pressing the input selector buttons onthe remote.2. Switch the audio input source to CD by simplypressing the input selector buttons on theremote.3. Now “CD” has been selected as the audio inputsource and “VCR1” as the video input source.Notes:• If you change the input source during recording, youwill record the signals from the newly selected inputsource.• You cannot record the surround effects.• Digital input signals are only output to the digitaloutputs. There is no conversion from digital toanalog.When connecting CD players and other digitalcomponents, do not connect only the digitalterminals, but the analog ones as well.HT-EQ (HOME THEATER EQUALIZER)At cinemas, the front left, front right and centerspeakers are located behind the screen. So, screendamping is taken into account when mastering moviesoftware, with an emphasis on high frequencies.When playing back such software at home, thesignal takes on different characteristics from thoseat the cinema. This unit includes HT-EQ to rectifythe sound difference between that experienced at acinema and in a home theater, allowing you to enjoythe same sound you would experience at the cinemaat home. The HT-EQ feature is available except inthe following modes.• 7.1 CH INPUT• PURE-DIRECT• When VIRTUAL is set for the surround mode1. Press the HT-EQ button on the unit.“EQ” indicator on the front panel will illuminate,indicating the HOME THEATER EQUALIZERhas been activated.2. To cancel this function, press the HT-EQ buttonagain.“EQ” indicator on the front panel will beturned off, indicating the HOME THEATEREQUALIZER has been deactivated.RECORDING AN ANALOG SOURCEIn normal operation, the audio or video sourceselected for listening through the DN-A7100 is sentto the record outputs.This means that any program you are watchingor listening to may be recorded simply by placingmachines connected to the outputs for TAPE OUT,CD-R/MD OUT, VCR OUT in the record mode.To record the input source signal you are currentlywatching or listening to1.1.1. Select the input source to record by turning theINPUT SOURCE knob on the front panel orsimply press the input selector buttons on theremote.The input source is now selected and you maywatch or listen to it as desired.2. The currently selected input source signal isoutput to the TAPE OUT, CD-R/MD OUT, VCROUT outputs for recording.3. Start recording to the recording component asdesired.
