This will cause the thermocouple tocool. When the thermocouple cools, the fireplacewill shut down.If pilot flame pattern is incorrect, as shown inFigure 46• turn fireplace off (see To Turn Off Gas to Appli-ance, page 23)• see Troubleshooting, page 28Note: The pilot flame on natural gas units willhave a slight curve, but flame should be blue andhave no yellow or orange color.Figure 45 - Correct Pilot Flame Pattern(Propane/LP Shown)Pilot BurnerThermocoupleFigure 46 - Incorrect Pilot Flame Pattern(Propane/LP Shown)Pilot BurnerThermocoupleKey Pad Lock FeatureThis feature allows the user to lock/unlockthe keypad on the hand-held remote in theMANU or AUTO mode to prevent inadvertentoperation (i.e. children operating the hand-heldremote control, etc.). The thermostat has beenelectronically calibrated at the factory andrequires no adjustment or leveling.Upon installation, the thermostat must be al-lowed to stabilize at room temperature for aminimum of 30 minutes for proper operation.See installation instructions on page 19.OPTIONAL GWMS2 WALLMOUNTED SWITCHMake sure the heater switch is on AUTO. Thiswall switch works just like the conventionallight switch. Flip the switch up for on and downfor off.Note: Make sure that this switch is not in aposition to be mistaken for a light switch. Thismay result in the fireplace being inadvertentlyturned on without the proper precautions be-ing taken. See installation instructions onpage 19.bURNER FLAME PATTERNFigure 47 shows a correct burner flame pattern.Figure 48 shows an incorrect burner flame pattern. The incorrect burner flame pattern shows sporadic, irregular flame tipping. The flame should not bedark or have an orange/reddish tinge.Note: When using the fireplace the first time, theflame will be orange for approximately one houruntil the log cures. If burner flame pattern is incorrect, as shown inFigure 48• turn fireplace off (see To Turn Off Gas to Appli-ance, page 23)• see Troubleshooting, page 30Figure 47 - Correct Burner Flame PatternFigure 48 - Incorrect Burner FlamePattern
