Installing fireplacenext to vinyl or cloth wall cover-ings or operating fireplace whereimpurities (such as tobacco smoke,aromatic candles, cleaning fluids,oil or kerosene lamps, etc.) in theair exist, may discolor walls.Note: Your Comfort Glow fireplace is de-signed to be used in zero clearance installa-tions. Wall or framing material can be placeddirectly against any exterior surface on therear, sides, or top of your fireplace, exceptwhere standoff spacers are integrally at-tached. If standoff spacers are attached toyour fireplace, these spacers can be placeddirectly against wall or framing materials.Use the dimensions shown for rough open-ings to create the easiest installation (seeBuilt-In Fireplace Installation, pages 16and 17).IMPORTANT: Vent-free heaters add mois-ture to the air. Although this is beneficial,installing fireplace in rooms without enoughventilation air may cause mildew to formfrom too much moisture. See Air for Com-bustion and Ventilation, pages 4 through 6.IMPORTANT: Make sure the fireplace islevel. If fireplace is not level, log set will notwork properly.CHECK GAS TYPEUse only natural gas. If your gas supply isnot natural gas, do not install fireplace. Calldealer where you bought fireplace for propertype fireplace.ELECTRICAL HOOKUPThis fireplace normally operates under 120VAC/60 Hz line voltage. The electrical cordsupplied with your fireplace is five feet inlength. You must locate fireplace withinreach of a 120 volt grounded electrical out-let. If not, you must install an electricaloutlet within reach of the fireplace powercord. The GA3555 outlet accessory may beused for built-in applications.WARNING: A qualified ser-vice person must install fireplace.Follow all local codes.WARNING: Never install thefireplace• in a bedroom or bathroom• in a recreational vehicle• where curtains, furniture,clothing, or other flammableobjects are less than 42 inchesfrom the front, top, or sides ofthe fireplace• in high traffic areas• in windy or drafty areasNOTICE: This heater is intendedfor use as supplemental heat. Usethis heater along with your pri-mary heating system. Do not in-stall this heater as your primaryheat source. If you have a centralheating system, you may runsystem’s circulating blower whileusing heater. This will help circu-late the heat throughout thehouse. In the event of a poweroutage, you can use this heateras your primary heat source.INSTALLATIONCLEARANCESWARNING: Maintain the mini-mum clearances. If you can, pro-vide greater clearances fromfloor, ceiling, and adjoining wall.Carefully follow the instructions below. Clearances from the side of the fire-place cabinet to any combustible ma-terial and wall should follow diagramin Figure 5.Example: The face of a mantel, book-shelf, etc. is made of combustible ma-terial and protrudes 3 1/2" from the wall.This combustible material must be 4"from the side of the fireplace cabinet(see Figure 5).B.
