Inspect these ar-eas of heater before each use.Have heater inspected yearly bya qualified service person.Heater may need more frequentcleaning due to excessive lintfrom carpeting, pet hair, bed-ding material, etc.WARNING: Failure to keepthe primary air opening(s) of theburner(s) clean may result insooting and property damage.BURNER INJECTOR HOLDER ANDPILOT AIR INLET HOLEThe primary air inlet holes allow the proper amountof air to mix with the gas. This provides a cleanburning flame. Keep these holes clear of dust, dirt, lint, and pet hair. Clean these air inlet holes prior toeach heating season. Blocked air holes will createsoot. We recommend that you clean the unit everythree months during operation and have heater in-spected yearly by a qualified service person. We also recommend that you keep the burner tubeand pilot assembly clean and free of dust and dirt.To clean these parts we recommend using com-pressed air no greater than 30 PSI. Your local com-puter store, hardware store, or home center maycarry compressed air in a can. You can use a vacuumcleaner in the blow position. If using compressedair in a can, please follow the directions on the can.If you don't follow directions on the can, you coulddamage the pilot assembly. Note: Removing the rearpanel (Figure 5, page 8) and top grate(s) of yourstove will make cleaning easier.1. Shut off the unit, including the pilot. Allowthe unit to cool for at least thirty minutes.2. Inspect burner, pilot, and primary air inletholes on injector holder for dust and dirt (seeFigure 27).3. Blow air through the ports/slots and holes inthe burner.4. Check the injector holder located at the endof the burner tube again. Remove any largeparticles of dust, dirt, lint, or pet hair with asoft cloth or vacuum cleaner nozzle.5. Blow air into the primary air holes on the in-jector holder.6. In case any large clumps of dust have now beenpushed into the burner repeat steps 3 and 4.Clean the pilot assembly also. A yellow tip on thepilot flame indicates dust and dirt in the pilot as-sembly. There is a small pilot air inlet hole abouttwo inches from where the pilot flame comes outof the pilot assembly (see Figure 28). With theunit off, lightly blow air through the air inlet hole. You may blow through a drinking straw if com-pressed air is not available.Burner TubePilotAssemblyPilot AirInlet HolePorts/SlotsFigure 28 - Pilot Inlet Air HoleFigure 27 - Injector Holder On OutletBurner TubeBurner TubeInjectorHolderPrimary AirInlet Holes
