Do not modify logs. Only use log setdesigned for this fireplace. Logs under log/grateassembly are attached to burner. Do not attempt tomove these logs as this will damage logs.WARNING: Logs are unitizedand attached to the grate. Do nothandle log/grate assembly bylogs. Always pick up by grate.Open louvers, remove screen, unlock door latchesand open glass door. See Removing Glass Door,steps 1 and 2, page 25.1. Pull ember material apart into pieces no largerthan a dime. Place these pieces loosely and spar-ingly directly onto the exposed front section ofthe burner (see Figure 42). This will createthe glowing ember appearance as the flametouches the ember material. Do not block airslots by using too much ember material in onearea. It is not necessary to use all of the embermaterial provided.2. Pour lava rock onto plenum but not onto flatburner. It is not necessary to use all of the lavarock provided.NOTICE: Do not put lava rock onburner or under burner. Remove screws that attach plenum to burner toremove plenum.5. Remove three screws from deflector shieldon the inside top of firebox. Set shield andscrews aside.
