8 Making connectionsDX-L40-10AProgramming a universal remote controlto work with your TVYou can operate your TV with a new or existinguniversal remote control.To program a universal remote control:1 Find the code for your universal remote controlby identifying its model (or your set-top box’sremote control manufacturer and model) onthe charts below, then make note of thenumbered code below it. You will use thenumbered code to program your remotecontrol to work with your TV.Codes for other remote controls are availableonline at:www.dynexproducts.com\t-customer_support.aspxTips:• The brand name is often visible on the front of theuniversal remote control, and the model number isoften visible on the back.• If your universal remote control isn’t listed on thechart, refer to your universal remote control’sinstructions and try codes for the brands Orion,Emerson, Memorex, Sansui, Sylvania, or Zenith. Youmay need to try several codes before finding amatch.2 Follow your universal remote control’sinstructions to enter the code you found in Step1.Tips:• If your universal remote control has a code searchfeature, run a code search to identify a code thatmatches your TV. See your universal remotecontrol’s instructions for details.• If your universal remote control has a “Learn”feature, you can manually program it using yourTV remote to “teach” the commands one at a time.See your universal remote control’s instructions fordetails.3 If all else fails, you must use a different universalremote control that can operate both yourset-top box and your TV. If youhave questions, refer to the user manual that came withyour equipment.Always turn the power off when connecting externalequipment.Your TV does not support DTS audio format.
