26 Using the DVD playerSelecting the titleSome DVDs are recorded with two or more titles. If a title menu isrecorded on the disc, you can select the title you want.To select a title:1 Press DVD TITLE during playback. The Title menu opens.2 Press , , , or to select the title you want, then pressENTER or PLAY. The selected title starts playing.Note: Depending on the DVD, you may not be able to select a title.Depending on the DVD, a “title menu” may be called a “menu” or “title”in the instructions supplied with the disc.Using the DVD menuSome DVDs let you select the disc contents using the menu. When youplay these DVDs, you can select the subtitle language, soundtracklanguage, and so on, using the DVD menu.To use the DVD menu:1 Press DVD MENU during playback. The DVD menu opens.2 Press DVD MENU again to resume playback at the scene whenyou pressed DVD MENU.3 Press , , , or to select the title you want, then pressENTER. The menu continues to another screen. Repeat Steps 2and 3 to set additional items.Using the Zoom featureYour player lets you zoom in on the frame image. You can then makeselections by switching the position of the frame.To use the Zoom feature:1 Press ZOOM during playback. The center part of the image ismagnified. Each time you press ZOOM, the magnificationchanges 1 = ×1.3, 2 = × 1.5) and 3 = × 2.0.2 Press , , , or to view a different part of the picture.3 Press ZOOM repeatedly to return to a 1:1 view ( Off).Notes:While in zoom mode, you can use Pause, Slow, or Search.Zoom may not work with some discs.Setting the languageYou can select the language of the menu, subtitle, and soundtrack ifmore than one language is recorded onto the disc.To set the language:1 Press SETUP/TV MENU while in stop mode. The DVD menuopens.2 Press or to select the Language icon , then press oror ENTER. The Language menu opens.3 Press or to select the desired option, then press orENTER.4 Press or to select the language you want, then pressENTER. Available options include:• English• French (Français).• Spanish (Español)• Other—Additional languages can be selected using the“Language code list” on page 31.• Off (Subtitle)—Turns subtitles off.• Original (Audio)—Subtitle will appear in the originallanguage of the disc.5 Press SETUP/TV MENU to close the menu screen.Note: If the selected language is not recorded on the disc, the first prioritylanguage is selected.Setting the aspect ratioTo set the aspect ratio:1 Press SETUP/TV MENU in stop mode or with no disc inserted.The DVD menu opens.2 Press or to select the Display icon , then press oror ENTER. The Screen menu opens.3 Press or to highlight TV Screen, then press or ENTER.4 Press or to select the screen type you want, then pressENTER. Available options include:• 4:3 Letterbox—When playing a wide-screen DVD, thisoption displays the wide picture with black bands at the topand bottom.• 4:3 Panscan—Displays a wide picture on the whole screen,with left and right edges automatically cut off.• 16:9 Wide—Displays wide-screen pictures full size.5 Press SETUP/TV MENU to close the menu screen.Note: It is not always possible for the DVD to display the picture in yourpreferred picture setting.
