If the Under-voltageTrip Device coil has at least 85% of the rated voltageapplied, the moving clapper is held to the yoke by themagnetic force, even though the reset lever hasmoved up.5-5 INTERLOCKS AND INTERFACINGRefer to Paragraph 4-9 of this manual for detailedinformation concerning circuit breaker interlocks and theirinterfacing with a switchgear structure compartment. Inaddition, refer to the instruction manual supplied withthe switchgear assembly. Customers are responsible forproviding VCP-WR interfaces.5-6 LEVERING MECHANISM (VCP-W ONLY)The purpose of the levering mechanism is to move thedrawout VCP-W circuit breaker into and out of theCONNECTED position within the assembly structure. The levering mechanism used to move the circuit breakeris a minimum effort recirculating ball drive design, and ispart of the assembly structure cradle. For additionalinformation concerning the levering mechanism, refer tothe instruction manual supplied with the switchgearassembly. Paragraph 4-8.1 of this manual providesdetails concerning the use of the levering mechanism tomove the circuit breaker into and out of the CONNECT-ED position within the assembly structure.Figure 5-9 Secondary Terminal Blocks Shown MountedBottom Front Fixed Circuit Breaker (Shown WithTerminal Blocks for Second Auxiliary Switch)5-7 OPERATIONS COUNTERAll circuit breakers are equipped with a mechanicaloperations counter. As the circuit breaker opens, thelinkage connected to the pole shaft lever advancesthe counter reading by one (Figure 3-8).5-8 GROUND CONTACTThe ground contact used with the drawout VCP-Wcircuit breaker is an assembly of spring loaded fingersproviding a disconnectable means for grounding thecircuit breaker chassis, after it has been inserted intoa switchgear structure. The ground contact is locatedon the lower left portion of the truck chassis. Anextension of the switchgear ground bus is secured tothe cell floor in such a position to engage the groundcontact automatically, when the circuit breaker ismoved into the DISCONNECT/TEST position. Itremains engaged in all other circuit breaker positionswithin the cell. The lever is supplied on the VCP-WRbreaker, but the customer is responsible for supplyingthe proper interface.5-9 MOC AND TOC SWITCH OPERATIONSA MOC operator integral to the circuit breakerengages an operating lever of the MechanismOperated Cell Switch (MOC) located in the switchgearcell. This MOC operator permits the contacts of theMOC Switch to be correlated with the circuit breaker’scontact position. The cell mounted Truck Operated Cell Switch (TOC)is operated by movement of the circuit breaker truckinto or out of the CONNECTED position with theVCP-W only.
